Framework agreement on relations between Parliament and Commission achieves balance between requirements of parliamentary control and right of initiative and freedom of action of the Commission - Provision on transmission of confidential papers

Brussels, 09/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - As we announced yesterday, the long negotiation of a framework agreement regulating relations between the European Parliament and the European Commission came to an end on Thursday evening during the meeting of the conference of presidents of the EP political groups attended by Commission President Romano Prodi and Vice-President Loyola de Palacio.

The agreement mainly defines the different arrangements for intervention by the members of the Commission...
