Fourteen Member States agree on European participation in World anti-doping agency, United Kingdom is opposed

Lisbon, 10/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The informal meeting of the European Union Sport Ministers, Wednesday in Lisbon, did not enable them to take a final decision on European participation in the World Anti-doping agency (WADA). The European Commissioner for Sports, Viviane Reding, waited for the EU 15 to decide between intergovernmental or "Community" participation, in which the Commission would have full participation.
