ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) asset management

The Anglo-American asset-management firm AMVESCAP is to buy the Canadian firm TRIMARK FINANCIAL (24.8 bn Canadian dollars (CAD) under management on 31 March 2000) for CAD 2.7 bn under the terms of a friendly bid. The transaction will take the form of CAD 760 million in cash and CAD 1.97 bn in shares. This purchase will take total funds managed by AMVESCAP to 454 bn euro.
