NTT COMMUNICATIONS (Japanese group NIPPON TELEGRAPH AND TELEPHONE) has announced the acquisition of the American Internet company VERIO INC (turnover $258 million in 1999) for the sum of $5.5 billion. In concrete terms, the Japanese firm will acquire 90% of VERIO of which it already holds 10% of the shares, at the price of $60 per share.
