Commission grants a Euratom loan of EUR 212.5 million for modernisation of Units 5 and 6 of the Kozludy nuclear plant

Brussels, 18/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - On behalf of Euratom, the European Commission approved on Tuesday a loan of EUR 212.5 million to the Bulgarian National Electrical Company (NEK) for the safety upgrade and modernisation of Units 5 and 6 of the Kozludy nuclear power plant. The total cost of modernisation is estimated at EUR 490 million. The loan will be paid in several instalments up to 2005. The first funds could be disbursed this year, according to the Commission.
