EU reiterates its backing for international efforts to ensure peace, recalling that it is up to the parties to implement the Lusaka Agreement

Brussels, 13/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Portuguese Presidency has made the following declaration on behalf of the EU:

"The European Union expressed its deep concern at the continuing tension in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and once again urges all parties to the conflict to halt immediately all military activities and respect in full their commitments under the Lusaka Agreement.
