Parliamentary Intergroup "SOS Democracy" opposed to constitutionalisation of treaty and "federalist tendencies"

Strasbourg, 13/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The SOS Democracy Intergroup, chaired by Jens-Peter Bonde (EDD, Danish) reaffirmed at a press conference his opposition to bringing the treaty within the Constitution. Esko Seppänen (GUE/NGL, Finnish) criticised the federalist tendency and expressed his support for strengthening the rules of the democratic game on the basis of the existing national and Community institutions.
