European Commission could remove from Telefonica Media and Sogecable right to immunity from fines for broadcast rights to Liga and Copa del Rey de football in Spain

Brussels, 13/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission decided this week to send a statement of objections to Telefonica Media and Sogecable concerning their pooling of their broadcasting right in particular to the Spanish football matches from the "Liga" and "Copa del Rey". This first step could lead to the lifting of immunity from fines, which benefit the parties, in principal, for having notified their agreement on the 30 September 1999.
