Brussels, 15/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the EU entered a historic new phase in the process of its enlargement to Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean, opening, in the framework of intergovernmental conferences, individual and successive accession negotiations with Malta, Romania, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania and Bulgaria.
