Commission examines offers for selling TotalFina and Elf assets and will take position within two or three weeks

Brussels, 25/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is expected to give its view on 9 or 16 February on the merger of French oil companies Elf and TotalFina, it was confirmed on Tuesday by the spokesman's service for the Competition Commissioner. In order to respond to concern expressed by the Commission, mainly concerning the dominant presence of service stations of the two petroleum companies on motorways, Elf and TotalFina presented further commitments at the end of last week....
