Commission announces aid of EUR 40 million for cross-border development plan, following peace agreements after 150 years of border conflicts

Brussels, 18/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Commissioner for External Relations, Chris Patten, has announced that the European Commission intends to commit EUR 40 million this year in support of the plan for the cross-border development of the frontier regions of Peru and Ecuador. Peru's Deputy Foreign Minister Jorge Valdez Carrillo and Ecuador's Ambassador Francisco Carréon Mena presented the development project together on Tuesday.
