Commission initiates announced investigation into German aid to Holzmann

Brussels, 18/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - As expected, the European Commission has decided to initiate a formal investigation into German State aid to the giant BTP Philipp Holzmann. Following an initial investigation, it fears that the aid promised in December to avoid Holzmann's bankruptcy should enable the company to restore its viability and that the measures provided for by the restructuring plan should be contrary to European rules in matters of State aid for the restructuring of...
