Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Netherlands reject any major changes to ETS

The European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) is the cornerstone of the EU’s climate policy, said Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands, on Thursday 12 March, in a non-paper with a view to the forthcoming European Council.

These countries are open to targeted adjustments, but reject any fundamental changes. “Europe has limited access to fossil resources and is facing increasing competitive pressure at the global level....
