27/11/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 4 December, European Transport Ministers will be asked to approve their negotiating position (‘general approach’) on the revised directive on the weights and dimensions of lorries (EUROPE 13757/11). The text includes measures to address concerns about the impact of additional weight on infrastructure, which had stalled negotiations (see EUROPE 13654/2). Member States could use either automatic systems installed on the road infrastructure of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) or on-board weighing equipment. From 1 December 2029, zero-emission vehicles should be able to communicate reliable weight data remotely using on-board mass measurement equipment, with the option of using the smart tachograph. Details will be set out in an implementing act. Read the draft general approach: https://aeur.eu/f/joz (AD)
