“We have 200 tonnes of shelter, medical items, and food blocked in Rafah because of a lack of access”, lamented Hadja Lahbib, European Commissioner for Equality, Crisis Preparedness and Management, on Thursday 27 November, referring to the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip during a visit to Egypt.
“The situation has improved, of course, since the ceasefire, but it’s not enough. We don’t want to see trucks entering drop by drop. Aid must be massive, as it was accepted and written in the peace plan”, she declared.
Since the beginning of 2025, the European Commission has allocated €220 million to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, she reminded journalists on Thursday.
The European Commissioner also reiterated the EU’s support for the Palestinian Authority in pursuing a two-State solution. (Original version in French by Bernard Denuit)
