24/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 24 September, the Member States’ representatives to the EU approved the EU Council’s position on the ‘stop-the-clock’ mechanism for chemicals. This Commission’s proposal of July 2025, aimed at simplifying EU regulations and thus strengthening the Union’s competitiveness in the field of chemicals (see EUROPE 13676/11), postpones the date of entry into force of the revised regulation on the classification, labelling and packaging of chemicals (CLP regulation) to 1 January 2028. The proposal also amends relabelling deadlines, mandatory formatting requirements, advertising, distance selling and the labelling of fuel pumps. Following approval of the mandate, the Presidency of the EU Council will negotiate with the European Parliament to reach a final agreement. (CG)
