In a second draft interim report, European Parliament is expected to call on Member States to finally develop “consequences” for “persistent breaches” in Hungary

On Tuesday 23 September, the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties debated the second draft interim report by Tineke Strik (Greens/EFA, Dutch) on the proposal for an “EU Council decision determining, pursuant to Article 7(1) of the Treaty on European Union, the existence of a clear risk of a serious breach by Hungary of the values on which the Union is founded”, launched in 2018.
