On Tuesday 23 September, to mark EU Organic Day 2025, the European Commission unveiled the winners of the fourth EU Organic Awards.
Each year, these awards recognise innovative and sustainable projects in the European organic value chain.
At Rozino farm in Bulgaria, Albina Yasinskaya was named best female organic farmer. In Belgium, Lieven Devreese received the best male organic farmer award for his model of solidarity farming. In Austria, Joseph Brotmanufaktur, an artisan bakery, was singled out for its commitment to using rare varieties of grain. The Peskesi restaurant in Crete won the award for best organic restaurant thanks to its ‘Farm to Fork’ philosophy. In Germany, the Radis&Bona cooperative was recognised as the best organic food retailer for its local involvement.
In addition, the Portuguese municipality of Valpaços was voted best organic city, with remarkable growth in its number of certified producers. Finally, the award for best organic region/bio-district went to Võru County in Estonia, a pioneer in integrating organic food in school catering.
