24/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 22 September, the European Committee of the Regions inaugurated a new Working Group on Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which the Committee’s members will be meeting political leaders from the various cantons, entities and municipalities in the Balkan country. The aim is to involve the candidate country’s civil and political society more closely in the accession negotiations to ensure a more inclusive process. With this Working Group, the European Committee of the Regions hopes to be able to provide political, diplomatic and financial support, wherever possible, to local and regional political representatives in Bosnia. As 70% of European legislation is implemented by local and regional authorities, greater cooperation is needed, according to the Committee, to ensure that the reforms expected by the EU are properly implemented.
