24/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 24 September, the European Commission opened a public consultation as part of the review of the Standardisation Regulation scheduled for early 2026. In particular, it will mean speeding up the development of systemic standards for resilience and the EU’s dual transition. The EU’s main problem with standardisation is the delay in the development of standards by the competent bodies. To remedy this, the Commission already proposed, earlier this year, to take the lead in certain cases in establishing common technical specifications (CTS) which are comparable to standards (see EUROPE 13645/2). Stakeholders have until 15 December to submit their comments on the revised Standardisation Regulation. See the consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/ile (LM)
