Biodiversa+, the European network of national funding bodies for biodiversity research, launched the BiodivConnect call on Tuesday 9 September to support innovative research into the restoration of ecosystem functioning, integrity and connectivity (see EUROPE 13543/30).
With a total budget of around €40 million, this call focuses on efforts to restore biodiversity in all types of ecosystems and habitats, in all regions of the world. It covers three key topics: - setting restoration targets and measuring success; - transferability and scaling of nature restoration efforts; - resilience and sustainability of restoration efforts.
This call will contribute to the implementation of the EU Nature Restoration Law (see EUROPE 13646/8), the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Successful proposals will have to demonstrate significant added value at transnational level and are expected to be interdisciplinary, and ideally transdisciplinary, involving non-academic stakeholders in order to co-produce new knowledge relevant to society.
