09/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – At its plenary session on Tuesday 9 September, the European Parliament extended the mandate of the Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield (EUDS) by six months. Made up of 33 members and chaired by Nathalie Loiseau (Renew Europe, French), this committee was given a 12-month mandate, from 3 February 2025, to combat foreign interference (see EUROPE 13571/25). This extension, which was approved without any objections, means that the committee will continue its work until at least 3 August 2026. On social network X, Ms Loiseau took the opportunity to declare that “foreign interference (...) has never been so strong or so dangerous for our democracies”. (FS)
