On Tuesday 17 December, the European Commission published encouraging results on the digitisation of learning agreements as part of the European student card initiative (see EUROPE 13472/13). Between 2023 and 2024, the proportion of digital contracts rose from 37% to 52% among institutions holding the ‘Erasmus Charter for Higher Education’.
In addition, 48% of these institutions are now connected to the Erasmus Without Paper network, facilitating data exchange.
This initiative, which aims to achieve 95% digital contracts by 2025, reflects a collective effort by the Erasmus+ community to simplify student mobility. However, the Commission stresses that there are still shortcomings, particularly in smaller establishments which lack the resources to invest in this transition.
To overcome these challenges, workshops, national days and technical support are offered. These actions aim to strengthen the adoption of digital tools, which are essential for the future of the Erasmus+ programme after 2027. Digitisation remains a priority to ensure more inclusive and efficient mobility. (Original version in French by Nithya Paquiry)
