20/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday, 20 December, the European Commission announced that it was opening an anti-dumping investigation into barium carbonate imports from China and India. Barium carbonate is a mattifying and crystallising agent used on certain materials. Kandelium Group GmbH—a German company specialising in chemicals—lodged a complaint with the European Commission in November, noting a significant dumping margin for these Chinese and Indian products. The European Commission considers there to be sufficient evidence at this stage and is opening an investigation, which could lead to provisional anti-dumping duties in seven months’ time at the latest.
