Mazan rape case - European representatives welcome verdict and pay tribute to Gisèle Pélicot

The verdict in the Mazan gang rape trial, announced on Thursday 19 December, has prompted a wave of reactions within the European Union.

The 51 defendants were found guilty and sentenced to up to 20 years’ imprisonment. Gisèle Pélicot, the victim of this violence, fought to have the hearings made public and to make this case emblematic of the fight against sexual violence.
