20/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – At the invitation of the Ecuadorian authorities, the European Union will deploy an Election Observation Mission (EOM) for the legislative and presidential elections on Sunday 9 February. Led by Gabriel Mato MEP (EPP, Spanish), the mission will consist of a steering team that will arrive in the country at the end of 2024, 38 long-term experts who will be deployed at the beginning of January, and 40 short-term experts who will be present when the elections are held. It will remain in the country throughout the electoral process and will report on its observations. (MB)
