On Wednesday 24 April, the European Defence Agency (EDA) published its annual report for 2023.
In it, the EDA reveals that last year it managed around 94 ad hoc cooperative projects and programmes in the areas of capability development, training and joint procurement, as well as research and technology (R&T) and innovation, for a total estimated value of around €664 million.
In addition, in 2023, the EDA stepped up its fast-track procedure for the joint procurement of 155 mm artillery ammunition (see EUROPE 13263/22).
2023 was also marked by the accession of Denmark to the Agency, through an administrative arrangement between the Agency and the US Department of Defense. In addition, the EDA’s long-standing helicopter programme has been transferred to a new centre in Portugal, and the multinational fleet of Airbus A330 tanker and transport aircraft, a project established by the Agency, has reached initial operational capability.
