24/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 24 April, the European Parliament approved amendments to its Rules of Procedure (473 votes in favour, 89 against and 53 abstentions) to prevent conflict and harassment in the workplace (see EUROPE 13383/4), by making specialised training compulsory for MEPs. The training includes five modules dealing with recruitment, effective team management (including conflict prevention and early resolution), administrative and financial aspects of parliamentary assistance and the prevention of harassment, according to a press release. The new rules will be binding from the first plenary session after the elections, scheduled for 16 July. The training is already available on a voluntary basis and more than 300 MPs have signed up.
