On Wednesday 24 April, the European Commission and the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) launched the EU Space Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (EU Space ISAC).
This Centre, announced in the EU Space Strategy for Security and Defence in March 2023, aims to strengthen the security and resilience of the European space sector. The EU Space ISAC is a network of European space companies that want to develop their expertise as part of a collective approach to better prevent, address and mitigate security challenges. It will focus in particular on measures to improve cyber security, according to a press release from the European Commission.
Twelve founding members from France, Germany, Italy and Spain have been selected to form the first Board of Directors of the EU Space ISAC for a two-year term, alongside the Commission and EUSPA. The Board of Directors held its first meeting on Wednesday 24 April.
In addition to the founding members, ten other members have already been selected and will be contacted to take part in these activities, according to the Commission.
The call for applications for the EU Space ISAC is open, with two deadlines per year. The next one is 30 April 2024.
