Parliament adopts position on ‘CMDI’ package to strengthen banking crisis management

24/04/2024 (Agence Europe)On Wednesday 24 April, the European Parliament adopted by a large majority its position on the ‘CMDI’ legislative package (BRRD directive: 335 in favour, 224 against, 70 abstentions; SRM regulation: 352 votes in favour, 213 against, 67 abstentions; DGS directive: 385 votes in favour, 180 against, 56 abstentions) aimed at strengthening banking crisis management, adopting unchanged the position of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) (see EUROPE 13376/21). It approves the extension of the scope of bank resolution to medium-sized banks, by mobilising national bank deposit guarantee schemes to provide bridge financing for bank resolution.
