24/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament approved (565 votes in favour, 37 against and 29 abstentions) the provisional agreement with the Council of the European Union on the new regulation on EU guidelines for developing the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) (see EUROPE 13317/7) at its plenary session in Strasbourg on Wednesday 24 April. It validated the three-level approach, which should develop or modernise the TEN-T in three phases: the core network before 2030, the extended core network before 2040 and the comprehensive network before 2050. “New rules will strengthen the performance, accessibility, security and resilience of our infrastructure, which is a key element of our sovereignty”, commented co-rapporteur Dominique Riquet (Renew Europe, France), in a press release. The Member States’ representatives to the EU (Coreper) have already validated the agreement (see EUROPE 13348/28). Read the agreement: https://aeur.eu/f/bxs (AD)
