20/11/23 (Agence Europe) – A new EU humanitarian airlift flight to Port Sudan last weekend delivered essential items to support humanitarian partners – UNICEF, Emergency and Relief International – in helping victims of the conflict, the European Commission announced on Monday 20 November. Since the airlift was introduced in May (see EUROPE 13183/38), five flights have taken place. In total, 161 tonnes of emergency supplies were delivered from the United Nations warehouses in Dubai. In a press release, the Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič, reiterated his call to “ensure that humanitarians can do their lifesaving work in safety and without being blocked by administrative or other hindrances” in this country where atrocities are committed (see EUROPE 13291/6).
