20/11/23 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 20 November, the EU Council appointed Alejandro Blanco Fernández as the new Spanish member of the European Court of Auditors for the period from 1 March 2024 to 28 February 2030, replacing Baudilio Tomé Muguruza. Mr Blanco Fernández has worked as an advisor at Spain’s Permanent Representation to the European Union since 2015. He has previously held such positions as seconded national expert to the European Commission and State Controller and Auditor at the Spanish Ministry of Finance. The EU Council also renewed the mandates of the current Danish member, Bettina Jakobsen, and Irish member, Tony Murphy, who is also the current President of the European Court of Auditors.
