15/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission decided on Wednesday 15 February to refer six Member States to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) for failure to notify transposition measures for two copyright directives. The Commission has referred Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Latvia, Poland and Portugal to the CJEU for failure to notify measures fully transposing the Directive on copyright and neighbouring rights in the digital single market (2019/790). The same countries - with the exception of Denmark - are also the subject of actions brought for failure to notify the Commission of the full transposition of the EU Directive on the exercise of copyright and neighbouring rights in certain online transmissions (2019/789). These two directives aim to modernise copyright rules and enable consumers and creators to make the most of the digital world. (TM)
