15/02/23 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 15 February, the European Commission said that it had approved the addition of Terras do Navia wines from Spain to the EU register of protected geographical indications (PGIs). Produced in the province of Lugo, in the autonomous community of Galicia, Terras do Navia wines are generally clear and bright, fresh and sweet, with floral and fruity aromas. The special qualities of the wines from this area are the result of the age-old know-how of the local winegrowers who, over the years, have selected the grape varieties best suited to the region’s particular natural environment. This new designation is added to the list of 1,629 wines already protected at the EU level. (LC)
