15/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission adopted on Tuesday 14 February a proposal to include free roaming charges in the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine. In concrete terms, this means that Ukrainian nationals travelling within the EU will no longer have to pay extra charges when using their mobile phone in the EU. European travellers will receive the same treatment when travelling to Ukraine. The adoption of this proposal follows the announcement by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in her State of the Union speech, which called for the comprehensive implementation of the EU-Ukraine Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA). Several telephone operators had introduced measures in recent months to make free calls between the EU and Ukraine possible (see EUROPE 12929/3). (TM)
