12/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament's Committee on Fisheries failed to adopt during this Parliament’s legislature the report by Isabelle Thomas (S&D, France) on the revision of the system for monitoring fishing activities (see EUROPE 12198/12). The reason for this is the impossibility of finding compromise amendments on certain controversial subjects, such as the extension of the control rules to vessels under 12 metres in length. The next European Parliament Fisheries Committee following the May elections will therefore resume work on the text in the autumn, with a view to defining its position at first reading. (LC)
