The European Parliament could decide on Monday 15 April to remove from the agenda the vote on the report on the proposal updating the European Anti-Fraud Office's (OLAF) investigation procedures the following day in plenary. This proposal aims in particular to ensure harmonious cooperation between the Office and the future European Public Prosecutor's Office (see EUROPE 12212/4, 12143/18).
The request for postponement will be submitted on Monday in plenary, at the request of the rapporteur, Mrs Ingeborg Grässle (EPP, Germany), who would be supported in particular by the ECR and ENF groups.
The reason for this postponement would be that Mrs Grässle would not be able to secure a majority in support of a controversial amendment, which had already been rejected in the European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control.
This amendment, which was again tabled for the vote in plenary on Tuesday, aims to prevent OLAF inspectors from carrying out investigations in the offices of Members and their assistants.
The other groups (including S&D, ALDE and Greens/EFA) are against this amendment and oppose postponing the vote. In this case, the Parliament could no longer vote on the text under this mandate and work should resume in the next Committee on Budgetary Control following the May elections.
