EP calls for immunity to be restored to three opposition parliamentarians and for the EU to send an ad hoc delegation

Strasbourg, 11/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - In a resolution adopted on Thursday, the EP called on the Cambodian national assembly to restore the immunity of three opposition parliamentarians (Sam Rainsy, Chean Channy and Chea Poch) accused of charges ranging from defamation to plotting to overthrow the government. Failing which, the EP says the EU should consider sanctions. The European Parliament suggests that an ad hoc EU delegation travel to Cambodia as soon as possible. Representatives of...
