France is found guilty of failing to carry out sufficient controls on vessels entering French ports

Luxembourg, 22/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Court of Justice has published a recent press release in which it points out that it has found France guilty of failing to fulfil its maritime security obligations, as set out in Council Directive 95/21/EC of 1995.

The Commission had brought action as it felt France had failed to fulfil its obligations under the directive, namely the inspection of at least 25% of the number of individual vessels entering its ports during any one calendar...
