Commission to bring France before Court for discrimination against cable networks

Brussels, 15/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the Commission decided to bring France before the Court of Justice for failure to comply with the 1995 "Cable" and 1996 "Full Competition" directives. Despite a letter of formal notice and a reasoned opinion sent to the French authorities (October 2000 and April 2003), Paris maintains a discriminatory provision to providers of telecommunications services by cable.
