Commission questions retrospective reduction of UMTS licences for France Télécom

Brussels, 15/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - With the inquiry dating from late January 2003 on State aid to France Telecom "progressing", Tilman Lueder, spokesperson to Commissioner Monti, confirmed on Tuesday that further to an insolvency claim by Bouygues Télécom, the Commission is wondering what to do about the retrospective reduction in prices of UMTS licences, and whether this constitutes State aid.
