Commission is opposed to Italian aid after transport strike in Sicily

Brussels, 07/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission decided on Friday not to clear aid foreseen by Italy to offset the injury caused to the agricultural sector by the road hauliers' strike and blockades in Sicily on 30 September and 8 October 2000. The decision does not request recovery of the aid, amounting to EUR 672,394, because it has not yet been paid.
