Mr Schieder shocked by death sentences in Libya

Strasbourg, 07/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which has 45 Member States, has criticised the death penalty handed down to five Bulgarians by the Libyan courts (see also EUROPE of 7 May, p.6). "I hope that this decision will be appealed and overturned, and that goodwill will win the day in Tripoli, which has just renewed dialogue with Europe", said Mr Schieder.
