Foreign Minister Sandra Kalniete is nominated as Latvia's Commissioner - Situation in other acceding countries

Brussels, 09/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - The government of Latvia is the first of the ten acceding countries to have officially notified to President Prodi the name of the person it hopes to see become Latvian Commissioner from 1 May 2004. Prime Minister Einars Repse confirmed the nomination of Foreign Minister Sandra Kalniete with a telephone call to Mr Prodi. Mr Prodi immediately agreed to the candidature and said he hoped to meet Ms Kalniete to discuss the distribution of portfolios to...
