Commission and USA think that an agreement is close on Galileo - meeting on 28-29 January - final points to settle

Brussels, 09/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - Both Washington and Brussels considered that they were close to an "historic" agreement on the future of the satellite navigation and positioning systems for providing world wide cover. A negotiations meeting on 28-29 January could put a close to discussions on the condition that the last two points of disagreement on frequencies are resolved.

The USA had initially attempted to undermine the European Galileo project, which puts an end to their monopoly...
