ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) banking

The French merchant bank LAZARD has announced the acquisition of the British brokerage company, PANMURE GORDON, from the German state bank WESTLB for around EUR 79 million. the German bank is currently negotiating the sale of some of its assets in an effort to make up for its losses of EUR 1.7 bn.
