Diamandouros criticises Commission for not having verified validity of report on impact that fishing will have on grey seals

Strasbourg, 20/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - European Ombudsman Nikiforos Diamandouros criticised the European Commission for having acted inconsistently concerning a contract signed with a national fisheries council of the Irish Sea for assessing the impact that fishing nets have on grey seals. He intervened after a complaint filed by the scientist responsible for the research entitled "physical interaction between grey seals and fishing gear".
