Parliament rejects directive on liberalisation of port facilities by majority of 20 votes

Strasbourg, 20/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament rejected by 229 votes with 209 and 16 abstentions the result of conciliation on port facilities. The directive for organising liberalisation of port facilities is therefore null and void. Following the rejection of the take-overs directive in July 2001, this is the second time that the Parliament has rejected an agreement concluded in the context of conciliation procedure.
