XVIth interparliamentary conference calls for strengthened links and trade negotiations between EU, Central America and the Andean Pact to be opened in 2005

Brussels, 22/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - In a resolution adopted on Thursday after the 16th EU/Latin America interparliamentary conference, MEPs and Latin-Americans call for new trade relations between the two continents to be opened before 2005. They also call for the creation of a "bi-regional solidarity fund". MEPs announce the despatch of a joint delegation to Venezuela in order to "help settle the crisis". The date and the composition of this delegation are still to be specified.
